Bronze statue on the Art Bridge, Skopje.
The Art Bridge (Most na umetnosta) is a pedestrian bridge across the Vardar in the centre of Skopje, lined with statues of noted Macedonian artists and musicians. In August 2012 a bronze statue of Toše Proeski was placed here, showing him with a microphone in hand.
It is the easiest Toše memorial to visit in the capital, and on anniversaries people leave flowers and candles at its base.
The bridge was built as part of the large "Skopje 2014" urban project at an estimated cost of €2.5 million. It is 83 metres long and 9.2 metres wide, widening to 12 metres in the centre, and carries 29 sculptures — fourteen on each side and one in the middle. The statue of the painter Nikola Martinoski, whose Kruševo gallery is also in our directory, is on the same bridge.
